Blender Short Animation - A Place Both Wonderful and Strange This animated short is my tribute to the great film director David Lynch 's Twin Peaks . The Man From Another Place's dance was by far the most difficult piece of animating in the entire short. After I completed it, I realized that there isn't really in 'art' here. I didn't interject my own point of view or style. Although I learned a bit and think that a lot of the rendering looks good. There just isn't much here. The music was written by me in LMMS. Blender Short Animation - Brief Conversation in a Diner My next short animated film was Brief Conversation in a Diner . This was my first attempt at character animation. I used the CGCookie Flex rig for all of the characters. It's a pretty nice rig and I would recommend it to anyone just starting out with character animation. I like to think of this project as a surreal, Lynch-esque short. I'd love to hear some interpretations. The simple cello line was created in LMMS . Blender Short Animation - Metal Giant Up next is Metal Giant . For the music, I took a famous metal instrumental from 1985 and re-harmonized it with the changes to Jazz saxophone great John Coltrane 's Giant Steps using LMMS . Yes, it was a rather strange idea and it didn't come out quite how I thought. But, I think that it's a least somewhat interesting. Let me know what you think. For the visuals, we have a series of, in my mind, surreal images. A narrative was never the intention. This is the last animation I created that is entirely rendered in Blender Internal. It is also my longest animation to date. As always, please visit my YouTube channel and like, subscribe, and comment.

Duke's Midnight Odyssy Okay, here's a little write up on my second short animated film Duke's Midnight Odyssy . The music, also written in LMMS, was conceived separately from the video. This ended up as a tribute to Genesis, Thelonious Monk, and Stanley Kubrick. It's a little mashup, if you will. The song's chord changes are from Thelonious Monk's 'Round Midnight . The melodies in the second half are inspired by the 1980 Genesis album Duke --specifically Duke's Travels and Duke's End. Obviously, the visuals are inspired by Stanley Kubrick's 1968 masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssy . I don't really know how or why it evolved in this way. I wanted to do something in outer space and it kind of grew from there. Also note, this was rendered in Blender Internal. Let me know what you think. Dwight's Blender Blog Hello, my name is Dwight Martin and I am a desktop support technician from 8 to 5. In my free time I make short animated films using Blender . I've been doing this for a little over two years now and thought that I would start a blog. (I've been camping on this URL for years.) Right now the plan is to post my old animations and write a quick summary. Below you'll see the first video that I uploaded to YouTube. It's called Pillars . I wrote a little piece in LMMS and thought that it would be fun to make some visuals to go with it. Several years ago I used Blender a lot. I wandered away from it for a while and decided to get back into it for this project. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel . It would be great to hear some comments and get some likes!
